Think about that.
Your (Or the politicians) intentions are good. He/she wants to help and then, because their intentions are good and just they decide to do something that is evil indeed. They pass a law which invariable takes away a freedom. Those freedoms then are eroded away by further laws which use the first as a basis and an argument.
The founders of the United States knew this and formed a Republic. Note a Republic is NOT a Democracy as everyone in the media would like you to believe, and that most US citizens are blindly unaware of. The Government should exist to protect its citizens from an external threat and to enforce an equal legal system for its citizens to work out differences. It should also enforce the peoples rights and limit the powers of government as the constitution states.

It seems we are beyond that now. We refuse to learn from history, we refuse to accept the reality and refuse to acknowledge the evils and prefer to live in our own self made utopia which is doomed to fail.
